When you need to down a concoction of immune-boosting, throat-soothing, raw, and citrus ingredients, this is the smoothie for you.
This winter has seemed to be especially bad for colds. In fact, I’ve read about the flu hitting us hard this season, particularly over the holidays when, at least for me, it seemed like everyone was coming down with something.
I thought I was lucky to avoid the germs this year until BAM. It caught me. I was down for the count over the New Year’s long weekend, ringing in 2017 (at 9 p.m.) with lemon-turmeric shots instead of champagne.
I subsisted primarily off of soup an oatmeal, but decided I needed to jam-pack a bunch of nutrients into one smoothie to gulp down my greens and antioxidants. Except, turns out, I didn’t have to plug my nose while sipping this drink – it was delicious!
So I offer to you this refreshing and vibrant smoothie recipe that promises to lift your energy, spirits, and hopefully, even, your cold.
FLU-FIGHTER GREEN SMOOTHIE
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup orange juice
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 tbsp ground flax seeds
- 1 green apple, chopped
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1 tsp honey
- 3 ice cubes
Add all ingredients into blender on high until smooth. Enjoy!
