As important as what goes into our body is what goes on our body. Here’s a round-up of some stellar products that I’ve tried and tested so you don’t have to!
I’m extremely sensitive to scents, fragrances, and chemicals, and so using natural products, as much as possible, is not only a nice-to-have but a necessity as far as my health is concerned.
My migraines are exacerbated by any strong odours – particularly fabricated ones – and I have extremely sensitive skin. These traits had me introducing natural products to my routine a while ago, but it was only until recently that I really put a bigger emphasis on getting rid of harmful cleaning and beauty substances.
Just like for food, it’s important to read the ingredients list of household and beauty products
I’m now not only that girl in the store reading food labels, but doing the same in the hygiene and cleaning aisles. I do my best not to use anything with parabens, dyes, colours, or artificial fragrances, and I’m careful about alcohol content in the items (like makeup and body products), as well.
It’s taken a while to try various products, research the ingredients and get samples, and it’s a work in progress (it can also be very overwhelming to know where to start and what to look for when you’re in the natural beauty store or organic aisles). Unfortunately, some natural beauty products I’ve tried haven’t been effective and just do not stack up to the bigger brands, so testing is definitely important.
So far, these are the ones that have done me well. Of course, making your own or using pure substances (coconut oil, for example) are great options, but sometimes that’s not always convenient or available! I hope you’ll find these as wonderful as I do.
