As much as I love a good green smoothie in the morning, I’ve been getting a little tired of my tried-and-true’s. Sometimes the best results come out of whipping up random stuff – and that was certainly the case with this smoothie!
I used what I had in the kitchen, and – surprisingly – got all the amounts right on my first go. It’s a healthy start to your morning and quite filling… I was able to skip my morning snack (which never happens) after drinking this first thing.
I called it “summer glow” because it’s fruity, reminding me of the ripeness of fresh fruit picked in the heart of summertime, and the addition of healthy fats from avocado, almonds, and flax seed helps your skin look and feel great.
Try it and tell me you don’t feel glowing – even if you’re stuck under fluorescent lighting all day!
Summer Glow Smoothie
(Vegan, refined sugar-free, gluten-free)
- 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 2 medjool dates
- 3 ice cubes
- 1 ripe banana
- Half avocado
- 1/2 cup frozen berries
- 1 tbsp almond butter
- 1 tbsp ground flax seeds
- Add all ingredients to blender on high speed and blend until smooth.
- This smoothie is quite thick — perfect for a smoothie bowl — but if you find it’s too thick, add some more almond milk until it reaches your desired consistency.
