Over the holidays, many people continued to tell me “you have great willpower!” after I turned down sweets and baked goods time and time again. I would tell them exactly what I’ve learned to be true over the past two years since quitting refined sugar – an idea Gretchen Rubin has remarked about a variety of habits – “it actually takes no willpower. I don’t eat any sugar because I have no willpower at all.
